Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds are spreading their wealth to organizations close to their heart.
The couple is known to live the American dream in their million-dollar home and sporting their favorite cars and bikes on the streets. However, a luxurious life is not the only thing they spend their money on. The Gossip Girl alum and the Deadpool star recently donated $2 million equally to both: the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and to the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights.
Blake and Ryan are playing an important part in helping the children who are separated from their families at the US border under the Trump administration. “We’re blown away by the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and the Young Center’s commitment to not only justice and democracy, but humanity,” the couple said.
“Over the last few years, our perspective has grown and we’ve realized we have to do everything possible to foster more compassion and empathy in this world. History’s being written right now. We’re grateful to give back to organizations who give voice to so many,” they continued.
The Young Center announced that this donation will be used to establish the Waymaker Fund for Immigrant Children, which protects and increases the protections for the rights of immigrant children separated from their families at the border and amid increased deportation efforts. Whereas, the donation to NAACP LDF law firm will help the organization’s efforts to promote racial and social justice and equality across the nation.
This isn’t the first time the couple has been charitable. Reynolds has been a financial supporter of Make A Wish Foundation and he sits on the board of directors for Michael J Fox Foundation. Lively, on the other hand, has supported the Chime for Change- a celeb backed charity organization.
